I have attached the link to the parents' guide to the Ontario Code of Conduct. <a href="http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/safeschools/code.html">http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/safeschools/code.html</a></p><table class="ms-rteTable-default" width="686" height="188" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr><td class="ms-rteTable-default" style="width:50%;"><p><strong>Standards of Behaviour</strong><br> <strong>Respect, civility and responsible citizenship</strong><br> All school members must:</p><ul style="list-style-type:disc;"><li>respect the need of others to work in an environment that is conducive to learning and teaching, including by ensuring that cellphones and other personal mobile devices are only used during instructional time for educational purposes (as directed by an educator), for health and medical purposes and/or to support special education needs</li></ul></td></tr></tbody></table><p style="text-align:justify;"> </p><p style="text-align:justify;">At Nantyr Shores, we believe in differentiating our instructional practice which includes the use of technology (cell phones) to enhance learning as well as providing technology free instructional time to improve student focus.  <strong>Instructional practice is determined by each individual teacher and as a result </strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>every class will be different</strong></span><strong>. </strong></p><p style="text-align:justify;">In order to support student learning, teachers will decide if technology free instructional time is needed for the lesson they are teaching.  If it is, students will put their phones into a secure location in the classroom that will be locked up by the teacher. This Saturday, November 16th, Nantyr is hosting our second annual Holiday Market! Bring your friends and family to come out and support our school. For the rest of the week, you will hear about some of our awesome clubs, teams and classes that are putting something together for this event. Leadership is selling Tritons Spirit Wear, so if you're looking for some Nantyr gear, show up on Saturday to purchase your sweaters, sweatpants or t-shirts!  If you're looking for volunteer hours, please come and see Ms. Murphy in room 309 at lunch this week to sign up to help.</p><p> </p><p>Any student who has already signed up for Nantyr's 1st Annual Public Speaking competition, or would like to, there will be a very important meeting on Wed at lunch in Room 304. This is for any student that has already signed up and any student who would like to. See you Wednesday! </p><p> </p><p>On December 2nd, Nantyr will hold its 1st Annual Public Speaking Competition. If you would like to compete, with an original speech of 3-5 mins, please sign up with Dr. McGrath in room 304. </p><p><br></p><p>All members of Nantyr's Debate Team are reminded of our practice TUESDAY at lunch in room 304. </p><p> </p><p>Any grade 12 student enrolled in French next semester are asked to see Madame Young in 214, before Tuesday, for information regarding the DELF exam. Merci.</p><p> </p><p>Today during period 2 we will be taking part in a Remembrance Day ceremony. There will be poppies distributed in each period 2 class. Please donate a looney or twooney for your poppy. The donation goes towards helping veterans and their families with medical assistance and mental health issues. They also use the donations for the Lefroy Legion which helps local veterans and provides educational support to our community and school.</p><p> </p><p>Canadian Coast Guard College is coming to Nantyr! The Canadian Coast Guard Officer Training Program (OTP) is an exciting opportunity to serve your country while making a real difference on Canada's waters. The ultimate goal of the program is to train individuals to become highly motivated and competent Ship's Officers who will serve at sea in the Canadian Coast Guard fleet. </p><p>The program trains Officers in Marine Engineering and Marine Navigation. Interested in this opportunity? Come to Guidance, Monday November 11th @8:30 am. </p><p> </p><p>Attention Tritons! Are you considering a career in medicine? There will be a free information session where you can learn what to expect in regards to schooling! Get the opportunity to talk to current medical students and residents about what it takes. The boys were defeated in score but not in effort, commitment or representing Nantyr. The team had a great season. A lot of dedication was required to get to where they were yesterday. Look back at your entire season and be proud of your achievement. Well done gentlemen, the coaching staff are very proud of you all. Keep your heads held high, there will be more championships. Great work Nantyr! </p><p> </p><p>A huge Congratulations to: Jade, Isabella, Claire, Ruby, <br> And Charlee. These members of Nantyr's Debate Team attended the Simcoe County Debate Tournament yesterday in Midhurst. <br>Our team conducted themselves with both grace and grit and each one of them should be commended for how they represented our school. A special shout-out to Ruby and Claire who won their first debate of the season. Congratulations ladies! <br><br></p><p>All debate team membersare reminded of our practice on Tuesday. This week our stars showed their Leadership skills out in the community by helping to create a safe space for teenagers to hang out in Innisfil.  Nathan, Kamryn, Travis, Pablo, Grace, Jaime, Daniel and Watson, thank you so much for volunteering your time to help out our community!  Could these Tritons of the Week please come to the main office at the beginning of period 2 to get their award!
