On Thursday, September 28 we are having our annual Terry Fox Run during period 2! Stand triton proud and wear your triton colours...teal, black, and GOLD. September is childhood cancer month and to recognize this we want everyone to wear as much gold as they can for the event. The person wearing the most gold WILL win a prize! This event promises to be fun and inspiring! Pie a teacher in the face, play some games, and then feast on the BBQ! Less than a week to go! Get your pledges in! </sub></li><li><sub>Students helping out with the Orange Shirt Day table at lunch are asked to see Mrs. Lagace in guidance today at 10:30 to help with setup.</sub></li><li><sub>Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Soccer Team for their season opening win against Barrie North yesterday.  The team won 3 to 1 on our home field with strong goal keeping by Matt T. and goals by Jaiden E., Joshan J., and Devin R.  We practice after school today to get ready for our Friday game against Innisdale.  Meet on the field immediately after school.  Practice starts at 2:40.</sub></li><li><sub>September 22nd is important in the residential school experiences of First Nation, Metis and Inuit people as this was the date when children would be removed from their homes to attend residential school.  The last remaining Residential School in Canada closed only 21 years ago, in 1996. Orange Shirt Day was created in 2013 during the St. Joseph Mission Residential School Commemoration Project in Williams Lake, BC. </sub><sub>  </sub><sub>Nantyr will be participating in the Orange Shirt day on Thursday.</sub><sub>  </sub><sub>Please plan to wear an orange shirt this Thursday.</sub></p><sub>Former First Nations student Phyllis Webstad told the story of her first day at residential school as a six-year old girl. Her shiny new orange shirt, bought by her grandmother, was taken from her.</sub><sub>   </sub><sub>This story prompted many other community members to share their own experiences.  The Residential School system in Canada separated thousands of First Nations, Inuit and Metis children from their families, cultures and traditions generation after generation for over 100 years.</sub><sub>  </sub><sub>Help us remember that every child matters– wear an Orange Shirt this Thursday.</sub></li></ul>
