Nantyr Shores February 2026 Newsletter

February Newsletter

Message from the Principal:

Welcome back, Nantyr Shores students and families. I hope students are feeling recharged and ready to begin second semester with a strong sense of purpose and pride. A new semester offers a clean slate—an opportunity to set fresh goals, build positive habits, and take ownership of their learning. The entire staff is excited to support all students in the weeks ahead.
One of the most important ways to set students up for success is by being on time—for school in the morning and for every class throughout the day. Arriving promptly shows respect for teachers, classmates, and the students learning. It ensures students don’t miss key instructions or fall behind before the lesson even begins. Those few minutes truly matter.
The staff want to remind students of the value of completing their assignments and homework consistently. Doing work early in the semester helps students develop the skills, confidence, and understanding they’ll rely on as the coursework becomes more challenging. Strong habits now will support students all the way to June.
Let’s make this semester one defined by effort, growth, and pride in what students accomplish. I’m looking forward to seeing students at their best.

Sincerely,
Brian MacIsaac
Principal, Nantyr Shores Secondary School

Graduating Students and Parents

The equal consideration dates for University and College applications were January 15th and February 1st respectively.

Students who will meet their graduation requirements are still encouraged to apply at either www.ouac.on.ca (university) or www.ontariocolleges.ca (college).

Students Taking Night School or Independent Learning Credits

Students taking courses other than regular day school and who are applying to college or university need to inform Guidance of the credits ASAP.  Counsellors must manually change an applicant’s status with OUAC or OCAS; not doing so may jeopardize acceptance to a program.
